Review Comment: I have done three boats now with the vinyl floor covering. They look great and the flooring is not going anywhere with this glue. Spreads easy enough. I used a 6inch roller and a 2inch paint brush. Washup is easy too. Best to wear disposable gloves though.

Review Comment: I applied with the 5/32 inch trowel took twice as much glue as the projected coverage listed on the product. Glue is about consistency of Elmer’s glue.

Application Instructions:
  • L590 Marine Adhesive, flooring fabric, and substrate should be acclimatized for at least 24 hours prior to installation. Failure to properly acclimate voids any and all warranties.
  • One substrate is prepped as described in the subfloor surfaces section, loose-fit flooring to ensure proper fit.
    • User may want to leave a few inches of extra fabric at the edges so that any movement in installation can be corrected.
  • After loose-fitting, begin at one end of the boat and roll the fabric (face in) back toward the middle of the work area. Try to work in sections.
  • L590 may be brushed on, rolled on, or troweled (w/ 5/32” U-notch trowel). L590 will cure from the outside-in.
    • This means if it is left open to the air long enough to form a "skin”, the adhesive should be immediately scraped off and disposed, then begin application over with fresh adhesive.
  • L590 is not a contact adhesive, therefore there is no need for tack-time. Simply place fabric onto wet adhesive, work out wrinkles, and make adjustments right away.
  • Apply L590 to the substrate at a rate of approximately 1 gallon / 120 square feet (heavier applications will take longer to cure.)
  • One adhesive is spread, unroll fabric over coated substrate and smooth out any wrinkles with a smooth straight edge (the core that the fabric came rolled on works great)
  • Once the area is covered, roll un-glued fabric from the other end, and repeat the application process.
  • Open time with vary with temperature and humidity, but once fabric is applied and wrinkles worked out, avoid foot-traffic or weather exposure (including cold temperatures) for 24-48 hours.
    • Exact sure times will vary with atmospheric conditions.
  • You may check for cure by examining edges, but DO NOT tug at fabric, as pulling too hard will tear fabric or pull stitches or backing once adhesive has cured.
  • Once 590 has cured, trim any excess fabric from edges with sharp scissors, or roll edges and install j-channel.
  • With proper care and maintenance, your new flooring should provide you with years of great service!

Warranty:

  •  L590 Flooring Adhesive is manufactured to rigid Quality Control specifications and warranted to be free of defects. Defective product brought to our attention within one year of manufacture with be replaced at no charge to the customer. Warranty claims should be accompanied by the original receipt and the lot number from the original container. All claims should be sent to Boat Carpet Central; Attn: Claims; 1923 N.
